Olivia loves this, she could finished the whole sushi meal by herself in less than 15minutes which is record breaking (haha). Most kids will find this delicious because it has tamago (omelet) and mayonnaise, even I love it.
What is Tamago?
Tamago is the Japanese omelet commonly used in maki sushi. Unlike a regular omelet, the tamago is made with sugar and soy sauce added.
1. To cook tamagoyaki, beat eggs then add in soya sauce, sesame oil and sugar.
2. In a frying pan, layer egg batter, gently fold in from one corner. At least 3 folds to achieve a nice
thick effect.
Ingredients:
1. Egg - 1 (to make tamago, omelet)
2. Japanese rice (cooked) - 1 bowl
3. Spinach (chopped) - 1/4 cup
4. Mayonnaise - 3 tbsp (if you like, you may add more)
5. Soya sauce & Sugar to taste
Tool : Sushi Mat (*tips:wrapped mat with cling wrap to avoid rice slot in the gap of the mat)
Methods:
1. Cook Japanese rice. Add in chopped spinach when rice is cooked the cover with lid for 2 minutes.
2. I skipped vinegar (the original sushi has vinegar added, u may add in 1 teaspoon if your kids love it). Let it cool, then spread it on the sushi mat. Spread mayonnaise on top of the rice and then put the tamago in the middle and then roll.
3. Cut with sharp knife.
4. DONE!
